St Luke's Episcopal Church
"Everything we are and everything we have comes as a gift from God's gracious hands."

The Community

St. Luke's is located within the City of St. Albans, population 7,650 (2000 Census).  St. Albans is located in northwestern Vermont, close to Lake Champlain.  The city is surrounded by the Town of St. Albans, which has experienced tremendous growth over the past three decades.  St. Albans and the surrounding areas have become bedroom communities for Chittenden County, chiefly due to lower housing costs.

The largest employer in the St. Albans area is the federal government, which has an Office of Homeland Security located within city limits.  In addition to

the federal employees, the Office utilizes a subcontractor to provide clerical assistance.  Other significant employers in the region include Eveready Battery, Ben and Jerry's, Mylan Technologies, and Northwestern Medical Center.  An area high school, Bellows Free Academy, is located within city limits.  To the northwest of the city is the Northwest State Correctional Facility, Vermont's maximum security prison.

Across the street from the church is the St. Albans Historical Museum, housed in a former school, built the same year that St. Luke's current building was dedicated (1861).
